when I saw this vintage picture this morning over at Parlour Magazine I said to myself, I love being brown. black girls definitely do rock. they did then and we do now. no direct relation, but the picture made me remember my efforts to dress up for Halloween as a woman of the 70's and just how much i loved it. i might have to wear this afro again really soon. lol.

"Sometimes,if not most of the times, you find out who you are by figuring out who and what you are not."

I purchased this book weeks ago and just started reading it. Shame on me right. Eh. When you buy as many fashion magazines as I do and actually sit and read through them, sometimes it's hard to find the time to pick up a book and read it. Well this one kept starring at me. Finally I said, Mish, put the damn book in that bag and read it on the train. Of course I had to take the book jacket off. Random thought: I like when people don't know what I'm reading.

In all that my life is encompassing right now, emotionally, physically, career wise, I couldn't have started reading this at a more perfect time. So far, it's very inspiring for me. Kelly Cutrone's no holds barred attitude towards life and following your dreams is definitely right on cue. I scanned a two pages so you can see share what I'm talking about.

This has been my life for the last 4 or so days. Nothing fab about it at all. Ugh. Drugs, and more drugs in my system. But despite being sick, I couldn't help but escape my bed to head to starbucks for a chocolate cupcake. Yes, I'm obsessed with them. And after the second Starbucks visit, I found them! Now back in bed with my cupcakes.

...the thrift sequin top appearance

Remember that sequined top I bought at my nearest thrift shop? Well, I decided to bring it out of the closet for it's city debut. I'll tell you this much. That top might have been half my weight. It was pretty heavy. And, it was a lot of look for one top. But I think this Fab Chick pulled it off. With so much going on, I decided to keep the rest of my look, simple and basic. Minimal jewelry to not compete with the outlandish beading. So here it is. All black with a bolt of shine.
